The team
The Chief Data and Analytics Office is responsible for the management and use of data across ASIC as well as the development and execution of ASIC's overall data strategy. The team works collaboratively across the organisation to ensure ASIC can fully exploit all relevant data assets, both internal and external, in achieving the ASIC vision. The team oversees data related activities spanning data sourcing, data infrastructure, reporting, data science/analytics and data governance.
The CDAO is currently establishing a data matching capability to increase the efficiency and effectiveness of ASIC regulatory and enforcement processes and unlock novel use case within data and analytics.

The role

You will be accountable for:
  • Supporting the development and implementation of ASIC's Enterprise Technology/ Data Architectures, Data Management, Data Matching, Data Quality and Big Data Platform approaches and frameworks
  • Providing support in developing data matching and data platform solutions
  • Supporting data projects and initiatives with SME consulting and data profiling/testing services
  • Tracking data quality (e.g. completeness, accuracy, appropriateness) of ASIC's key data assets
  • Initiating and resolving root cause analyses
  • Developing database queries, analysing ETL processes/pipelines and/or matching routines/logic
  • Testing ETL data solutions developed by application developers and data engineers
  • Developing data policies, standards and processes to support the Data Governance Framework and promoting/implementing adoption of these across ASIC business teams and
  • Sharing knowledge with team and data users to improve overall data management capability across ASIC
About you

  • Tertiary qualifications or equivalent industry experience in IT, Computer Science, engineering, data management or related discipline
  • Experience in data management roles related to Master Data Management, Entity Resolution, Probabilistic matching, Big Data, Data Warehousing Analytics and/or Business Intelligence
  • Experience coding in SQL (or equivalent) to extract, manipulate and/or analyse data
  • Technical skills and knowledge in some of the following disciplines: MDM, Database design, Data Modelling, ETL, Database warehousing architecture, Big Data Architecture, Data Streaming, Data Virtualisation
  • Previous exposure to and knowledge of traditional Data Warehousing (SQL Server, Oracle, DB2, etc) and Big Data Technologies and approaches (AWS, Azure, NoSQL Databases, Python, Spark, etc)
  • Familiarity with solutions for MDM, Business Intelligence (Qlik, PowerBI, Tableau, etc) and Analytics (Python, R, SAS, etc) and willingness to further develop these skills
  • Experience of data management and governance practices/methodologies
